Ask your Instructor which system to access for your Summer 2013 courses.
The University of Georgia is in the process of upgrading to a new Learning Managment System. Our current system, eLearning Commons (Blackboard Vista 8) is being replaced by a eLC-New (Desire2Learn).
During Summer 2013 and Fall 2013 Semesters, both systems will be available instructors to utilize. Check with your instructor for each of your courses to find out which system they will be using.

eLC-New (elc-new.uga.edu) - Student Frequently Asked Questions
1.) I dropped/added a course. When does that change appear in eLC-New?
There is currently a delay of two business days for OASIS enrollment changes to appear in eLC-New.
Monday OASIS changes -> updated in Wednesday eLC-New data
Tuesday OASIS changes -> updated in Thursday eLC-New data
Wednesday OASIS changes -> updated in Friday eLC-New data
Thursday OASIS changes -> updated in Monday eLC-New data
Friday OASIS changes -> updated in Tuesday eLC-New data
For example, if you drop or add a course on Friday, those changes will not be reflected in eLC-New until Tuesday morning.
1.) I just got my MyID. When will I be able to log in to eLC-New?
Users who have a MyID, a CAN, and have logged in to UGA Identity Management within 365 days are included in the enrollment data for eLC-New. Enrollment data is updated once daily, overnight Monday throught Friday.
After you create your UGA MyID and are assigned a CAN (9-digit number begining with either 810 or 811), and after you set up your secret questions answers at IDM, then you will be added to eLC and eLC-New within 2 business days.
eLearning Commons (www.elc.uga.edu) - Student Frequently Asked Questions
1.) WHEN I CLICK ON A COURSE, I GET A MESSAGE "This section is not available yet."

That message means that your instructor is either not currently using e Learning Commons or has not yet made the section available to students. An eLC section is created for every course taught at UGA even though not every Instructor chooses to use eLC.
You can Hide/Show courses from your My eLC page. Click on the Edit Course List Button
in the header of the Course List on your My eLearning Commons Page to access the Edit Course List page.
2.) I DON'T SEE A COURSE IN WHICH I'M ENROLLED.
DROP/ADD
Please note that student enrollments from OASIS to eLC are only udated once each day, the first thing each morning. If you drop/add a course today, those changes can take 24 to 48 hours to become active in eLearning Commons.
Course Availability to Students
Courses are only visible/available to students one day before classes begin through two weeks after grades are due. Course availability/visibility is based on standard session terms that are established by the Registrar (see the Schedule of Classes). If your course does not follow those established session terms, contact your instructor to gain access.
Is Your Course Hidden?
All eLC users have the ability to hide/show courses from their Course List on their My eLearning Commons page. Make sure that your course isn't hidden.
To Hide/Show courses from your My eLC page click on the Edit Course List Button
in the header of the Course List on your My eLearning Commons Page to access the Edit Course List page.
Getting Started with eLearning Commons
eLC Browser Issues
eLearning Commons requires that you configure your computer's browser and other settings for optimum performance.
"My Computer" Icon is not displaying when I attempt to upload a file or attachment to eLC
This is an issue related to the version of Java on your computer. The help doc gives instructions on how you can upload files/attachments now, and how to get the correct version of Java.
eLC Student Orientation
The Student Orientation pages provide an overview of the eLearning Commons system and detailed eplanations of the eLC tools that your instructors may be using in your course.
Student Help with eLearning Commons
Most student problems with eLC are most often related to the settings on individual computers. The operating system of the computer, the version of JAVA on the computer, and the internet browser being used, combined with the settings for each, can affect access to eLC and affect the functionality of eLC tools.
There is a "check browser" button in the upper right corner of the eLC pages, on the same line as the "Help" and "Logout" links. Click the "check browser" button and a pop-up window should open and give you the status of the browser check and provide suggestions to remedy your settings if they are not proper for eLC.
eLC is powered by Blackboard Vista 8. You may access their Browser Tuneup page at: http://www.webct.com/tuneup.
